Attention! Important information!

As a precautionary measure, large parts of the university’s IT infrastructure were shut down or disconnected immediately after the attack was identified. The Executive University Board immediately established a crisis management team. It also put together a team comprising the IT service at the university as well as external experts in IT forensics and cyber security to analyse and restore the situation. Thanks to the swift action that was taken, HsH was able to implement measures to secure its IT systems within a short space of time. Employees, students and external cooperation partners of the university were informed about the cyber-attack at short notice via the main website and, where possible, directly.

Whether data has been affected is the subject of ongoing forensic investigations. Both the student and examination administration at the university are operated by an external partner (HIS eG). Student’s core data and examination data are therefore not affected by the cyber-attack.

HsH has filed a criminal complaint with the State Office of Criminal Investigation in Lower Saxony and reported the incident to the State Commissioner for Data Protection in Lower Saxony.

The university is continually updating information on its website. A helpdesk has been set up for students, employees and external cooperation partners. Queries and any other matters can be sent directly to the helpdesk via support-it(at)hs-hannover.de.

We are already working on the restoration of our online learning platform ‘Moodle’. We will keep you notified about the next steps and continually release information on our website.  

The Academic Cloud (http://academiccloud.de) is operated by the GWDG (https://gwdg.de/en/) and is not affected by the cyber-attack. However, it is currently not possible to log in to the Academic Cloud from student and staff accounts. We are already working on restoring the login functionality. We will provide any updates relating to the Academic Cloud publish up-to-date information on this website on an ongoing basis.

The Wi-Fi internet access roaming service ‘eduroam’ is still available and existing Wi-Fi accounts can still be used securely. It is currently not possible to create new Wi-Fi accounts or reset passwords.

User accounts in Microsoft Teams and Zoom continue to work and have not been affected by the cyber-attack. The files stored in Microsoft OneDrive can also be accessed.

Employees have the option of receiving external psychosocial counselling from ias mental health GmbH.

A voucher for counselling can be requested from the Advisory Services in the Service Center. Please contact Anna Akhleif via email at anna.akhleif.hsh(at)web.de in order to receive one.

We strongly recommend that you avoid downloading files and programmes from untrustworthy sources such as dubious websites, peer-to-peer networks or third-party download programmes. Instead, rely exclusively on official websites or app stores for downloads. Make sure to check any unsolicited emails you receive from unknown sources, especially those containing links or files.

Both student and examination administration are operated by HIS eG for the university and are not affected by the cyber-attack. However, at present it is not possible for students and lecturers of Hochschule Hannover to register on the portal. We have already begun to work on restoring the login functionality and will continue to provide ongoing developments to the restoration and up-to-date information on this website.

At the moment, it is not possible to register to the Online Learning Agreement (OLA) platform. Until registration on this platform is possible again, please use the LA form for changes to your Learning Agreement (LA) and send it by email to the responsible persons.

Applicants with international educational certificates have the opportunity to apply for the summer semester 2024 via the application portal ‘Uni-Assist’. Applicants will, however, not receive a written response from HsH for the time being.
