Cooperation possibilities

Alongside teaching and continuing education, research and development are among the original tasks of the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Application-oriented research and development projects are of interest both for attractive Bachelor's and Master's theses and for the transfer of knowledge to industry and society.

The Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts expressly encourages its professors to acquire and implement research and development projects together with companies and other institutions. Research and development cooperation with public funding as well as cooperation directly financed by companies and other institutions play a prominent role.

The

Guideline for third-party funded research and research-based knowledge and technology transfer of the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts

forms the basis for this.

Contract research

If the company commissions a specific research or development service from the university or if it is planned that the results of the project will be made available exclusively to the third-party funder, this is usually contract research.

This means that the service must be offered to the university at normal market costs and the full costs must be invoiced to the third-party funder.

Research and development cooperation

If the primary aim of the research project is to conduct research and publish the results, this can be done within the framework of a research and development cooperation.

In this case, the partner and the university conduct joint research in the project. The partner usually supports the university's research financially and/or with material resources. Taking these framework conditions into account, the HsH may provide services at basic costs. Since the focus of this type of project is on the general expansion of knowledge and understanding, no transfer of rights can be guaranteed by the university.

For further information, please contact the Research, Development and Transfer Department.

Teaching cooperation

Teaching cooperation enables direct contact between companies and interested students within the framework of practice-oriented project work. The services provided by students in courses are neither remunerated nor invoiced.

In a teaching cooperation, the partner supports the higher education institution in fulfilling its teaching duties. In this case, the services of the HsH can be provided at basic cost.

A transfer of rights to the results cannot be agreed by the higher education institution, as the students are in principle the legal owners of the work they produce in the context of teaching. Any transfer of rights is subject to a separate agreement between the project partner and the students involved.

For further information, please contact the Research, Development and Transfer Department.
