Students

Our heart

Around 10,000 students form the heart of the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts, because the university is there for them.

Find out everything about the student organisation: The General Student Committee (AStA), the Student Council (StuR) and the student societies as well as their information and service offers.

For future, current and former students, the university offers a wide range of services - beyond those offered by the students in the AStA.

And the connection to the university does not have to end with graduation - there are many ways to get in touch.

The AStA

The student body of the Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts consists of all students enrolled at the university. It is represented by the General Students' Committee - AStA in short.

The AStA represents the interests of the students at the HsH. It is the executive body when it comes to student self-administration, counselling or also representing students to the public and politics. Each AStA member has a specific task and has a department with a particular focus.

The questions “Which departments are there?” and “Which department should I contact if I have a specific concern?” are answered on the

website of the AStA

.

StuPa

The student parliament - StuPa in short - is the highest student body at the HsH. It consists of voting members who meet every fortnight in a large StuPa session. Relevant and current topics are discussed, statutes are revised and the student body's budget is decided. The StuPa also elects and commissions the General Students' Committee (AStA).

The student society councils (FSR) represent the students of a faculty. The student society councils with their advisors are executive bodies at faculty level.

A five-member student society council (StuR) is formed from all the student councils of an HsH location. It coordinates the tasks for the respective locations. The Council of Seniors is made up of one elected representative from each student council. The Council of Seniors monitors the activities of the AStA and can impose a suspensive veto on its decisions.

Student Societies of the HsH

A student society council represents the interests of the students in a faculty or department. The student society councils with their advisors are executive bodies at faculty level.

Student counselling

The Hochschule Hannover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts strives to realise one of its primary goals by offering students a comprehensive range of counselling services: A more considered choice of studies and optimal orientation in the course of studies undoubtedly leads to greater academic success and shorter study times. In order to integrate our first-semester students more quickly and to bridge initial difficulties at the beginning of their studies, the university offers a wide range of tutorials and subject-specific bridge courses. These measures also aim to increase the proportion of women and better integrate our international students.
